MAUI’S LONG-TERM RECOVERY OPERATIONS (DRIP-9(4))
Description
Under Rule 7(B) of the Rules of the Council, the Committee intends to receive a presentation on Maui’s long-term recovery operations from representatives of the Office of Recovery and the Department of Water Supply.
Status
The Committee may receive a presentation on Maui’s long-term recovery operations and discuss related matters, including:
• Updates on Maui’s Long-Term Recovery Plan, including infrastructure and workforce development.
• Outlooks on the Disaster Case Management Program’s transition to County control from the State Department of Human Services, including transitioning the program’s participants from temporary to permanent housing.
• A proposed acquisition of Launiupoko Irrigation Co., Inc.’s water infrastructure assets and a portion of Kamehameha School’s lands in Ku‘ia to assist with long-term recovery efforts.
No legislative action will be taken.
Note
With reference to this agenda item, one or more executive meetings are anticipated in accordance with Section 92-5(a)(3), Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, to deliberate concerning the authority of persons designated by the County, the Council, or the Committee to conduct labor negotiations or to negotiate the acquisition of public property, or during the conduct of such negotiations; and Section 92-5(a)(4), Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, to consult with legal counsel on questions and issues pertaining to the powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities of the County, the Council, and the Committee.
